History of Ma'Nene

Ma'Nene started as an animal hunter named Pong Rumasek. Once upon a time, Pong found a body in a poor condition. Then, he took the body home to be dressed appropriately and buried in a safe place.

 Since then, Pong has had many blessings. Starting from agriculture that harvests faster and good game results. Pong thinks that respecting and caring for other people is necessary, even if that person is dead, namely by taking care of the corpse, in Indonesia families dig up their loved ones every 3 years in August, to spend quality time with them. They call it a Ma’nene festival

Ma' Nene' is a traditional ritual in Toraja culture. This ritual is a ritual in which corpses that are tens or even hundreds of years ago are removed from the grave to be

cleaned and replaced with clothes and cloth. This traditional ritual is included in the Rambu Solo' (death) traditional ceremony.
